Observing & Analyzing Present Day Communication Styles
The way we socialize and move throughout our daily lives has been greatly impacted by the introduction of new technologies, and very specifically smart phones. The little computer in your pocket, that holds so much potential and allows us to reach out to others in so many ways, can also become an obstacle to authentic, in-the-moment interaction. In this creative narrative, our lead character is depicted celebrating, relaxing and socializing while those around her are repeatedly and purposefully interrupting their activities with cell phones. Although occasionally hyperbolic, there are many scenes in this short film that easily mirror real life.
Certainly, how we behave and communicate through technology has changed profoundly in the past 20 years. This is not necessarily negative or positive—but it's worth investigating in order to understand the impact these changes have had, and to understand the benefits and consequences of that shift
